Harvest Update: 8 September, 2025
The first full week of September has shown continued ideal development in the red Bordeaux varietals in AVA St. Helena. With “degree days” on track with the delightful 2012 vintage, it appears we are 3 weeks out for the main push to harvest. In 2023 at this time we were about 6 weeks out.
St Helena Winery’s winemaker and vineyard manager described the vintage so far as “phenomenal, with beautiful development. All the reds have big beautiful clusters to a point that we dropped a lot of fruit for consistent development”.
It appears we are about 50% completed with the Sauvignon Blanc and other white fruit at this time. The sugars are a bit lower in the tank than the tests, so we can anticipate slightly lower alcohol levels in the resulting wines.
