Winery Overview
AXR is a winery that pays homage to its history and blazes the trail of excitement and innovation in Napa Valley as the pioneers before us did. We want to be reminded every day to live fully and to leave a lasting impression on our layer of history. Named after the AxR rootstock (Aramond x Rupestris) that was so prominent in building the modern California wine industry, AxR#1 eventually succumbed to Phylloxera and most of California wine country was left as a blank canvas. Vintners now had a chance to replant and to rethink the entire structure of the vineyards; attention was paid to the terrior and unique varietals were researched. This was truly a turning point in the wine industry as we know it. By utilizing modern and innovative techniques in the cellar, we extract the uniqueness of Napa Valley’s soils into wines enjoyable now, or many years from now.

About
CHASE Cellars The Winery is located in St Helena, Napa Valley, on the historic Hayne Vineyard. The winery was established in 1998. Owned by Katie Hayne Simpson. The winery is named after Katie’s great-great-great grandfather, Captain George Chase, who arrived to California in 1849. Approximately 1,800 cases produced each year. Katie’s family has owned it since 1872 (she’s 5th generation) – The Zinfandel vineyard, planted in approximately 1903, is one of the oldest in Napa Valley and is the source of some of the highest rated Zinfandel in America. 120-year old vines (70%) | 31-year old vines (30%) (our young vines are other peoples old vines) The vineyard is dry farmed (yep, no irrigation!), head-trained, hand-tended and managed sustainably with lots of love and no chemical intervention the same way for the last five generations.

Winery Overview
Corison Winery is a small family farm producing delicious Cabernet Sauvignons that speak of place. Over three decades, Cathy Corison and William Martin have built a special home to celebrate the best of our little corner of the world, benchland in the heart of the Napa Valley. Known for power and elegance, Corison wines are balanced to grace the table and are recognized throughout the world for their longevity and consistency.
In 1987, Cathy Corison began to purchase great Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from prime benchland vineyards between Rutherford and St. Helena, intent on making powerful and elegant Cabernet Sauvignon that speaks of place. These well-drained alluvial soils had a long history of producing balanced, age-worthy, world-class wines, reaching back to the late 19th century. In her early years everything was done with smoke and mirrors, using purchased fruit and space in others’ wineries.
In 1995, with the purchase of Kronos Vineyard, a property that had been a farm for over a century, there was finally an estate vineyard and a place to build a winery. In the spring of 1999 we broke ground to build our stately Victorian-style winery barn, designed by Cathy’s husband, William Martin. Our second estate vineyard, Sunbasket, a stone’s throw from the winery, was purchased in 2015 after sourcing it for over 25 years.

Winery Overview
The tale began in the early 1850s when Dr. George Beldon Crane set sail around South America before landing in San Francisco in 1852. After spending three years in the Santa Clara Valley, he settled in St. Helena in 1855 where he purchased 300+ acres. This was where Crane’s vision inched closer to reality. It was said that growing grapes of any kind in this region would be a ludicrous effort, however, Crane’s determination would soon tell otherwise.
Nested in the alluvial fan of the Mayacamas Mountain range in southern St. Helena, it is believed that here is where G.B. Crane first established grapes on the site back in 1858 where he was set to produce wines that would rival the best in the world. He began his mission by introducing Napa to Vinifera (European) Varietals. Although records are scarce, it was most likely planted as a field blend commonly known as “mixed blacks”. This field blend traditionally consisted of Zinfandel, Petite Sirah, Carignan, and a smattering of lesser-known grape varieties such as Alicante Bouschet, Mourvedre and Valdiguie.
Of the 6.5 acres in production, there is a 1.3-acre block of Cabernet Sauvignon, a .9-acre block of Petite Sirah, two rows of Merlot, and approximately 4 acres of Crane’s original plantings (1885, post phylloxera) and younger (1930) “mixed blacks” plantings. This four-acre block has been continuously farmed for nearly one hundred and sixty-five years by a number of different people…and now it is our turn to take on that responsibility.

Winery Overview
The first planting on what is now the J. Davies Estate Vineyard was in 1862 by Jacob Schram, representing the Napa Valley’s first hillside vineyard. This and the J. Davies Estate McEachran Vineyard are the southern most vineyards in the Diamond Mountain District AVA. Flanked by two cool creek canyons, Nash Creek to the north and Ritchie Creek to the south, and surrounded by dense coniferous and deciduous forests, these vines produce late-ripening, richly-concentrated fruit.
Initially, the Davies planted their estate vineyards to the traditional Method Champenoise grape varieties in 1965. But over time it became apparent that this land was better suited to the cultivation of red Bordeaux varietals.
Today, expanding from the knowledge gained through the production of the J. Davies Estate Cabernet Sauvignon from Diamond Mountain, our collection of Cabernet Sauvignon is an exploration of new Napa Valley vineyard sites. Each vineyard site provides the winemaking team unique flavor characteristics from the varietal, allowing them the opportunity to produce a wine that is strikingly different than the J. Davies Estate wine while still delicious and singular to the vineyard or appellation from which it came.
Developing upon this passion, history and experience, second-generation vintner Hugh Davies and winemaker Sean Thompson also craft vineyard and appellation designated Pinot Noirs. The family’s experience with Pinot Noir dates back to 1967, when Jack and Jamie Davies first used this elegant red varietal to make their inaugural vintage of Blanc de Noirs sparkling wine. Over the 45 years following its first use, Schramsberg’s winemakers have built long-lasting relationships with some of the North Coast’s best Pinot Noir growers.
Davies Vineyards could not be here today if it weren’t for the efforts of those who pioneered the Schramsberg Estate.
“It’s rewarding to be working on something that has roots that go beyond my life. Our business was started by my parents, but before my parents there were Jacob Schram and then the Pringles. Similarly, we can’t know exactly the course of the future ahead and yet there is a tangible link to the future ahead so you feel that you’re part of something that goes beyond your own life and I think there is something humbling and rewarding about that.” – Hugh Davies

Wines, like people, are a reflection of their origin and evolution. The “roots” of each should be celebrated and embraced with genuine, authentic conversation. In modern society, we are pushed to efficiency, where time is more and more a luxury that people don’t have. Wine is the perfect vehicle to allow us to slow down, enjoy one’s surrounding company with thoughtful discussion and embrace the time spent together with a glass of wine.
THE DEBATE began in 2010 with the intention to utilize wine as a social tool, to not only bring people together, but to take the time to learn more about each other, to explore our similarities and differences, and celebrate them.

Winery Overview
Gallica is nestled in the heart of Napa Valley amongst historic vineyards, coastal oaks, our gardens and olives. Heritage Petite Sirah and Cabernet Sauvignon are rooted in gravelly Cortina soils ambling off nearby Sulphur Creek. Our home is a handsome barn, contemporary and fresh, standing side by side with weathered vines. We strive to practice lightly touching the land from the tending of our vines, thoughtful winemaking methods, to the simplicity of our packaging, Winemaker Rosemary Cakebread’s vision for a wine of her own, eventually called GALLICA, grew slowly.
Inspired by earlier work at prestigious properties in both Napa Valley and Bordeaux, wines were made and a brand grew. The philosophy is a simple one: to craft elegant single vineyard wines farmed organically which accurately depict the site and the story of each unique vintage. GALLICA makes Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Grenache, Albariño, Syrah and limited bottlings of estate Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah. The brand symbol is a tribute to the ancient rose, their aromatics, and enhancement to winemaking. We love what we do and are fortunate to call Napa Valley home.

Gold From Grapes: The Napa de Oro Story
Noe and Caroline Taojo love to travel around the world with their children, Denise, Ingrid, Iñigo and Andreas, when they’re not watching over the family’s gold mining business. Over the years, Noe developed a yearning for great wines and began to chase a dream to produce his own brand, with the same passion and dedication that he is known for.
The Napa de Oro brand (yes, it’s “Oro” for “Gold”) was born when Noe’s recent trip to Napa in California connected him to Rudy Zuidema, internationally-known and one of Napa’s top winemakers. The Napa de Oro vineyard and winery are based in the Coombsville appellation of Napa Valley, one of the cooler regions of the Napa Valley known for producing wines with excellent structure and silky texture. Napa de Oro wines stand out for their fragrant aromas, sophistication, elegance, balance and complexity and beauty.
Napa’s Finest
Napa de Oro produces seven varietals of wine, from the most popular white wine, Chardonnay, to the most popular red wine, Cabernet Sauvignon, and five varietals in between. Its Bordeaux Style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc is an expression of harmony and power and appropriately named after Caroline, in recognition of her priceless contribution to the company.
Simply told, “Napa de Oro” is “liquid gold”.

Pellet Estate is a rare, authentically grown, and classically made wine. The Estate is a spectacular vineyard site in the small town of St. Helena, with a rich history dating back to 1859. Henry Pellet, one of the founding pioneers of Napa Valley winemaking, first planted this site in 1863 with a vision of producing wines that would be among the best in the world. The flagship wine for Pellet Estate is the Cabernet Sauvignon from the Pellet Vineyard, a blend of about 90% Cabernet Sauvignon with the balance being Merlot and Petit Verdot. Our Chardonnay from the Sunchase Vineyard in the Petaluma Gap is crafted in two styles: an unoaked Chardonnay and a traditional Burgundian barrel fermented Chardonnay.
As members of Appellation St. Helena, the Napa Valley Vintners, the Napa Valley Grape Growers, and the Petaluma Gap Winegrowers Alliance, we’re proud to participate in the various charitable, educational, culinary and trade events each year. These organizations support our beliefs of best and sustainable practices, educational support, raising appreciation and awareness of our industry, and very importantly, giving back to our communities.

Taplin Cellars produces estate wines from grapes grown in the foothills of the Mayacamas, on the western bench of St. Helena. Grower Overview
My family moved to St. Helena in 1991 when my father, Ron, decided he wanted to raise his family in a smaller, quieter town outside of the Bay Area. We quickly became active in the community, my father eventually starting a wrestling program for ages 7 up through high school. My dad’s affinity for the sport of wrestling and seeing the impact it has on high school students inspired him to start Engel Family Vineyards. He envisioned it as a way to support and raise money for the sport through donations of wine for auctions and events; and since it was a passion project he could also gift the wines to close friends and family. As a life insurance salesman, he knew very little about the wine industry, but we knew we had a very special piece of land. In 1995, he decided to go ahead and plant some vines, and 1999 marked the first vintage of Engel Family Vineyards.

Grower Overview
Korte Ranch has been family-owned for 4 generations. The founders, Ben and Clem Korte, were German immigrants arriving in Napa Valley in the 1890’s. They farmed grapes, walnuts, prunes, apples and pears. Before prohibition, the Ranch was a bonded winery. The original fields are still intact with head-pruned Zinfandel grapevines. Currently, the Ranch is owned by Jack & Kathy Pagendarm 4th generation, as well as the 5th generation, Nick & Kelly Pagendarm. Under the Pagendarm management, new plantings of Petite Sirah and olive trees have been added.
The Vineyard
The original vineyard was planted in the late 1890’s and remained in production through prohibition. Today, these old gnarly vines produce wonderful zinfandel wine. In 2005, three acres of pasture land were developed and planted to Petite Sirah grapes. The wines produced from these grapes are delicious.
The Olive Grove
In 2004, we planted over 150 Spanish olive trees. Our Spanish olive oil blend consists of 80% Arbequina olives and 20% Arbosana olives. Our Arbequina olive oil is a beautiful golden color, mild with a buttery flavor and some peppery notes on the finish.
Several years after the establishment of the Spanish olive trees, we added our Tuscan planting. The Tuscan blend consists of 50% Lecine olives, 20% Frantoio, 20% Maurino and 10% Pendolino olive trees. The Tuscan blend is also a beautiful golden color, with a flavor profile that is more robust with a peppery finish.

Tom Rinaldi, Owner, Winemaker
Raised in San Francisco, Tom made frequent trips to Napa on his motorcycle, buying wines directly from the wineries of the day. After four years in the Navy, Tom enrolled at UC Davis along with notable classmates Mike Martini, Tim Mondavi, Randy Dunn, and Bob Levy.
Tom’s career began at Freemark Abbey, an experience he calls “a great job, and a great honor.” In 1978, Tom became the founding winemaker at Duckhorn Vineyards. After 22 vintages of creating some of Napa’s most celebrated wines, Tom continued to build many wineries from the ground up, notably Pellet Estate, Provenance Vineyards and Hewitt . Tom’s 2010 Hewitt Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon was named to the Wine Spectator’s Top 10 in the world for 2013, and the #1 Wine in California. Rinaldi’s 45+ years of Napa Valley wine experience enables him to produce wines that showcase his masterful blend of traditional French techniques with ultra-high premium fruit.
Tom leads all winemaking strategies and cellar responsibilities, vineyard selections and crop management, and masterfully assembles all final blends – bringing his art, science, and nature together in harmony and balance.
Always the avid learner, Tom loves everything from anticipating the vineyards’ seasons to experimenting with new methodologies and technologies, always open to innovative practices alongside traditional methods. Tom resides with his wife and daughter in St. Helena, where you will either find him in the vineyard, the cellar, or riding his bike throughout the Napa Valley.
Eric Risch, Owner, Wine Portfolio & Marketing

He returned to his entrepreneurial roots to pursue the wine business, and resurrected Pellet Estate – establishing its vision, legal, business and operational components. Eric also created the Pellet Estate brand & wine portfolio in St. Helena, which he expanded from its flagship Estate Cabernet Sauvignon with the Henry’s Reserve program, an Estate Merlot and Rose, and two styles of Chardonnay from the acclaimed Sun Chase Vineyard in the Petaluma Gap.
Eric oversees Patent Wine Company’s portfolio, operations, and sales and marketing, and vineyard relations. He enjoys every opportunity to connect with customers locally and at regional events all over the country, and appreciates hosting visitors for tastings and vineyard tours, often discussing his passion for wine and food. For the past 10+ years, Eric has served on the Board of Directors as Vice President of Appellation St. Helena, helping promote and advance St. Helena grape growing and winemaking.
