Harvest Update: 1 September, 2025
With the month of August closing down Sunday, the next day Labor Day may just be a holiday for most winemakers in AVA St, Helena, Hourglass winemaker Tony Biagi says that this year’s harvest appears to be one of the best he has ever seen, and he is “super-excited”.
It appears that we are 10 days later than last year. Viticulturalist Tony Mitchell described the weather as excellent for high quality with no real heat waves, and an exceptionally good crop.
Bloom was a week earlier than the last couple of years, but veraison (grapes turning from green to red) lagged, allowing more “hang time” and better quality in general.I must repeat from last week that “so far, so good”.
